All classes at Kellogg High School in must comply with the Idaho System for Educational Excellence. Our course descriptions are based on this and are as follows:
Ceramics
Full year—one credit each semester (May be repeated for credit.)
Open to: 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Completion of two semesters of Art I with a grade of B or higher and teacher recommendation.
Description: This class will focus solely on the medium of clay. It develops the introductory skills introduced in Art I. Advanced techniques in construction, throwing, hand-building and decoration of three-dimensional clay projects will be covered. Students will also learn glaze mixing and various glazing and firing techniques. They will also be expected to safely and responsibly load and unload the kiln before and after firing.
Materials Cost: $20 each semester—this will include one 25 lb. bag of clay as well as glazes to decorate all projects required for earning credits. (Additional clay may be purchased by the students for other projects.)
